SO YOU WANT TO BECOME A WRITER

Outline

So, you want to become a writer. This is good—taken in the context that what you write will be uplifting and it has a good story. There are those who write pornography, or  stories that try to change the Christian moral character of a person. This, I’m against. If you are for it, then go somewhere else and read. So, using this context, I will continue.

In some ways, being a writer today is harder, in other ways, it is easier. So, let me explain. It is harder to be  writer considering the fact that fewer and fewer people read today, especially in the United States. Many can’t read, or they are poor readers, thus they find something else to do.

The easier part of writing today verse what it was years ago is, that there is the computer, Internet, and self-publishing.

With the computer, you have word-processing, so you don’t have to worry about writing and rewriting because of a mistake. You can also make the format to whatever you like. So, a lot of time it saved using a computer. As for the Internet, you have the whole world that is your market place. With some well-placed ads, and a good web page, you can reach millions. You can make copies of your book as the need arises. You can email the book to customers in several different formats, such as straight Word text, e-Book format, etc. You can also make CDs and mail them.

With other machines that are computer related, you can also take you book—in digital format—and send it to a company that prints it out. With new machines that automatically bind books, you can print out as few as 60 books. So, even those who would like the traditional paper book, you can do this with little cost on your part. In the past, you would have to have 2,000 books printed and shipped. Then thousands of dollars would be tied up while you hope to sell the rest, plus you would also need the storage space to keep them.

With the Internet, you can learn how to write books, or buy a CD that would tell you this. One way to learn a lot—basically free—and that is to read a book that is in the Top 10 list, and carefully analyze the style, the use of adjectives, for example, and the plot and how it is interwoven to other events in the book.

Pick a subject that you know and write about. A “Do it yourself” book, or “How to improve…” book is much easier to write than a novel, and you’ll have more success during it.

Self-publishing

Self-publishing is easier and much cheaper now, thanks to the computer and Internet. So, you don’t have to wait until some ‘big wig’ says your book is good. By the way, many have turned down books, on later to be printed by someone who saw the value in it (and that is usually after the writer submitted his manuscript to many publishers.

Discipline yourself

Discipline yourself is very important. You should set yourself a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals to you can get in the business. Don’t let excuses or ‘problems’ get in your way.

Some has already done it

Some has already done it. Big deal. If there was a Chinese restaurant in your town, and someone thought of opening another one. Do you think he would fail? It depends on the person. If they did only some things right, he’d make money, as you know many cities have many Chinese restaurants. Of course, if it’s not done write, even if he is the only one in town, he’ll fail. So it is with writing. Even if someone has already written a book on the subject, or many people, so what. Do you know how many people there are out there? What are the chances of him/her seeing an ad, or the book? Very slim, plus there are always new people in the market to buy a book on a certain time anyway, and then they are in the mood, they could see your ad first.
Place ads

Place ads in newspapers (small classified ones), on other web pages, and of course, have your own web page.

Write about what you know

Writing about what you know is a lot easier than making up a story. So, unless you have a good novel in your head, I strongly suggest you write a book about how to do something, or how to make/save money.

Topic CDs

With so much on the Internet, it becomes too much, thus people can’t find what they want. If you have an interest in cars, for example, you can do a lot of research in the Internet, find good pages, and put in your own words the best of the best web pages. This can be put in e-Book format, or you might want to put this on CD (which is better, as you would have a lot of pictures).

Web page

On your web page—which you can have someone design if you are not good at that sort of thing—you should have a chapter or two on it. Give something for free to the people. This way, they will know if they would like it, and if they do, will order it. You should also give an unconditional 30-day money back guarantee, as it will help sell whatever you are selling. Most people don’t bother to return the items anyhow, so you have little to loose. But keep in mind, whatever you do, to it good, and give value to what you sell. Have Pay Pal, where people can order through the Internet.

Motivate yourself

It’s good to motivate yourself, and to do this, you can just picture yourself know, and how you hate your job, and where you are not your own boss, to, having your own business, doing what you enjoy, and not have a time-clock to punch each day. Also, you can live anywhere in the world, live where you always dreamed, and being able to afford it. So, when you do take a break from your work, you can take a swim in the beautiful Caribbean Sea afterward.

Little Money

The great thing is, that all this takes little money. Just make sure you have a plan, change it if it’s not getting you closer to your goal, and then follow through with what you are doing. Look, other people are doing it, and they are not genius, or are born with a special talent. Take what you have and develop it. Then, let’s go!!!

Scan Old Books

With many so-called free nations there are many books that are illegal to import or sell (like Canada). If you have
old books (history books, novels, school books, etc.). Scan them in as it will be useful to
your children and future generations.

With many roads and the local population with bad drivers it´s better to keep close to home. Taking a bus on mountains is asking for danger. Fly to cities that are far away and keep close to that city to reduce your risks.

What is legal; what is right; what is your standard?

These are questions that most people don’t  ask themselves, or they don’t take a close look at.

Let us assume we are living 150 years ago in the United States. We are in some mid-west town. If someone came and stole your daughter, that person committed kidnapping, has he not? In this point of time,  under the laws of the United States, when that person is found, he would be hung, as kidnapping was a capital punishment. If were in a confrontation with this person, you would have the right to kill the criminal in order to secure your child. You would have the  backing of society, the police and the government.

Again, 150 years ago, if you were travelling down the road in your wagon, and you were stopped by some men who forced you to the side of the road; found money that you were carrying, and took it, saying, “He’s got a lot of money, let’s take it.” This would be robbery, as we all know. If, after they turned around to leave, you pulled you  trusty Colt Navy revolver from under your seat, and told them to stop. When they pulled their guns, you shot and killed them first, you would be in the right, and society would be in back of you. Why? Because, at this time, the law of the land was, if someone robbed you, it was called stealing, which you had a right to prevent. Also, with them treating your life, you have an equal right to kill them.

In both of the two above examples, if the criminals gave you an excuse for why they are doing it, their criminal act would still be wrong.

Now, you are transported to 1999. You are at home, and the police comes with a social worker to take your daughter because an anonymous caller said that you are abusing the child. They take your child in custody for, and lock you up. You go to court, after a wait of two months, and it was found that the charges are unsubstantiated, and they release the child to you. Now, this is mild, considering what thousands of others have gone through, where they put children into a foster home for two years.

You don’t like what happened; try to fight it in court; and finally resign yourself to the fact that this is the law, though you don’t like it.

One day you are driving down the road and the state police stopped you. They have “probable cause” to search your car; in it, they discover a brief case with $60,000. You explain to them that you sold a home in one state, and took your money in cash to your home state. They do not care, as the law says that anyone who has a “lot” of money on them has to go to court to prove where they got it. As the government’s “war on drugs” large amounts of money is suspicious of drug dealing.

In first example, the State says it’s not kidnapping, as there are laws on the books stating such circumstances where they can take your child. In the second example, the State says it’s not stealing, as according to law, they can do this. Since there are laws that say this; since politicians make such laws; since policemen  carry out such laws; since society, in general, support such laws; does it make it right? If you agree with what society does, at least in the above two examples, then that means you have no standard, no system of right and wrong, and probably, no religious beliefs. So, you might as well join the crowd and be obedient servants to your master. If you don’t go along with what is happening, then you have a standard of right and wrong.

Now, if someone who tried to defend their child from kidnapping, and killed the policeman and social worker, many people would say how horrible that is, even those who claim they are Christian, and are against what is happening. These people may go by the name of conservative, or have a Christian label, such a Christian Reconstructionist, etc. But, are they right in condemning this person? No! Likewise, if someone killed the state police who tried to steal their money while travelling on the road, these same people, and even those who call themselves Patriots, could join in chorus with the Judeo-Christians, whom we know are really in left-field, as being wrong. If no defensive action was take against the police, they look at the police and government as doing wrong. But if the victim defended himself, his loved ones, or his property, they look at that person for doing wrong. This is called hypocrisy, or as the Bible says, he’s a double minded person, and a double minded person is unstable in all his ways.

The conservative response would be to take them to court; to petition the government; to demonstrate, etc. Well, what good is that when the violence has already been committed? It’s too late. Also, they have look at history. For decades, conservatives, patriots and racialists have done just this, and what has happened? We continue to see more and more laws that take away our freedoms—they are getting stronger, and we are getting weaker. In short, we can never win by their rules. Oh, sure, there are some isolated cases we have won, but that’s just it, they are isolated. In short, we will never win by playing by the criminals’ rules.

It’s just like dialling “911” when we are being attacked by a killer—it’s too late. But many do this, because to defend yourself at the time you need it, not 30 minutes later, or even one minute later, is too late. But a lot of people do this, because to have a gun on your person while walking down the street, much less using it, is illegal.

If a criminal had a sheriff’s badge on 150 years ago, but did that which you knew was illegal, would that make it right? No! The same applies today. A criminal covering up who he really is by having a badge, showing papers, or having a uniform, does not change a criminal act. In 1999, the method is a little different, but the same thing is happening. By taking what is criminal, and changing the law, by using legal sounding words, by politicians saying it is OK, does not make a wrong into a right. If President Lincoln said that dogs have five legs, does that make it so? So, too, if what was kidnapping 150 years ago, doesn’t make it OK now. If stealing money that is yours, doesn’t make it OK now, no matter what reason they give.

A society must have standards, and these standards must be based on truth. What good is a standard if it’s based on a lie. They might never change that standard, but if it’s evil, it’ll always will be evil. If the standard started on the  truth, but it changed even by 1% every year, in 100 years it will be totally opposite of what it was when it started out. So, if one person accepts even a slight change from a standard, he’s no better than someone who accepts a total change, because one a change is accepted, it’s only a matter of time before it will keep changing. The only difference between the two is the degree.

Now, people may say, what is truth. If you read the Bible, Pontius Piolet said the same thing 2,000 years ago. Christ gave the answer elsewhere in the Bible, “I am the Truth, the Light…” In short, they are the laws that His Father gave in the Old Testament. And Christ said, “Study the scriptures to show yourself approved.” He was talking about the OT (there was no NT when He said). If one studies the Bible, you will see laws of what is kidnapping and stealing; that you have a right to defend yourself and even kill those who use force against you; that their is a death penalty for kidnapping, plus many other things.

When the US was founded, our laws were based, for the most part, on biblical laws. Just read old US laws, and biblical laws, and see how they parallel. This was also when we had the most freedom. We didn’t have government stealing children under the pretext of child abuse; we didn’t have innocent people have their money stolen because the police thought they had too much; we didn’t have murderers go free; and the 1,001 other crimes that plague our nation as we do today. In fact, if you think that biblical law has no part in today’s society, or don’t even think that they helped anyone. Then just  consider this. If the Bible is just a history book (some think not even a good one at that), tell me, why do we have the plagues on our nation like God promised when we disobey Him (read the 25th chapter of Deuteronomy). We have  got exactly what was prophesised 3,500 years ago. In short, their is a cause and effect relationship. A person or a nation can be ignorant of it, but it will still effect them, regardless. It’s like two people jumping off a building. One can be ignorant of the law of  gravity, and the other can be fully aware of it, but the effects will be the same on both. God made this law and the principles that apply to it. You either work within those laws, or those laws will break you.

One hundred and fifty years ago, society, more or less, was governed by good people. Now it’s governed by criminals. Naturally, the criminals are not going to say that they are thieves, murderers, kidnappers, enslavers of men. As good people have taken a back seat, and criminals have risen to the top, they have got billions of dollars, and with this, they have changed what is called right and wrong (Isaha said, “Woe unto those who call good evil, and evil good,” and convinced society that what they are doing is right, and anyone acting against them are the criminals. But like I said about the dog with five legs, just because they said so, doesn’t make it right. So, when the time comes that you have to defend your family and home, don’t worry about what others may think, you know that you are doing right. Sure, it’s more dangerous defending yourself, since you can’t depend on society for   back up as people did 150 years ago, plus you have more criminal to fight, but it’s either them or you. And if they don’t kill you, you can rot in jail with a bunch of niggers.

If you were being shot at by a mafia member, you’d shot back. If there were 10 of them, you’d still shot back. Naturally, you don’t like the prospects, but if you know you are going to get killed, you’d still fight regardless of the number. No one likes having to be in a situation where you have to shoot a person who’s shooting at you, and 10 make it worse. If a large number of mafia members were shooting at you, and they had uniforms on, and said this is our law, that doesn’t change the fact that they are trying to kill you, take away your freedom, your property, etc. You should still try to kill them. Well, today, we are surrounded by much, much, more than 10 criminals. It’s a bad situation, but the fact is, they are still criminals.

It doesn’t matter if they don’t see themselves as criminals or not. This doesn’t change what they are doing, or the harm they intend to inflict on you or your family. Just like the common criminal, many of them sincerely don’t see themselves as criminals, so that means we shouldn’t defend ourselves? Sure, there are many cops and politicians who are good fathers, husbands and sons—or mothers, wives, daughters, as the case may be. But that isn’t an excuse to let them steal your daughter, take your money, put you in prison, etc. Again, Yahweh, God said, don’t be a respecter or persons. And this is the problem we have today. To many people respect these criminals, because they have a uniform on, their a politician, a businessman, etc.  Even mafia members treat their wives and mothers good. So, saying he is a good family man is no excuse.

For those saying they are doing their jobs. Of course they are doing their  jobs, but is their job doing good for the people  are harm? Do they work for the devil or God? So this is no excuse.

I had been in the right-wing/patriotic movement for a number of years when I heard someone say that cops are not much  better than criminals, and should  be viewed as such. I had a hard time accepting this. In fact, I didn’t. Though I was politically and racially aware, it was still too hard for me to accept that those in power, whether they be businessmen, politicians, those on the judiciary, and policemen should be looked at as criminals (naturally, not all, but in general). I think this is true with most people in the right-wing. Why? Because, we have been brought up all our lives being told that these are people we can rely on; we can trust. Then to say that most of them are no good, takes away a solid foundation of our beliefs. For, it is human nature to trust others, and when this is taken away, what do we support our beliefs in.

This is the problem with telling others the truth—we don’t replace with another foundation they can rely on. I had only learned this, when I was taught about Identity. That there are people, and the God of the  Bible does support what we are doing. So, I was like a man on a stone in the middle of a raging river—I had another stone on which to place my feet. And this is what we have to make sure our people have, when we tell them what is really going on. Don’t show only the problems, but the solutions; not just the bad people, but the good ones, too. By doing this, it will always give the other person a solid foundation on which to walk. But keep in mind, and don’t expect that person to take a leap to the next “stone,” as what you have just told him/her has to be tested. After all, they have  been told one thing for their whole lives, and expecting them to make a change quickly is beyond reason. So, the same things applies with what I just have told you. I don’t expect people to believe it, or if they do, to do so quickly.

Another factor in me viewing those in power in a different light, was after reading and hearing more and more horror stories of what is happening to our people, have I viewed those in power with utter disgust.

On “touch stone” to determine if something is good or bad for the people is, if everyone did it, would it be good or bad? For example, if everyone who had their money stolen from them from the  police, shot them, maybe not right then, but  at a later time and place when you’ll have more success, would this  be good   or bad? Just think about it, if this happened, how many policemen would be willing thieves doing the stealing on the orders of others? Not very many. Thus, a bad law will be taken off the  books, or at least, not enforced. If you say, people will get killed. Sure. There would be bad people, i.g., the policemen, and; there will be some Christian-Patriots. Let’s face it, it’s a war, and with a war, good and bad people get killed. If you say, what good is it if patriots get killed. I say, what good is it if they are locked in prison? What good is it if they are sitting quietly in their own little room, keeping their thoughts to themselves, afraid to even mention anything, because of the “thought crimes” in force.

So what can the System do, threaten you with eternal life? Unfortunately, good people have to die before other wake up, and if they don’t, they don’t deserve their freedom. Thus, all evil people will be living on Earth, and good people will be living in Heaven. Remember the words of Thomas Jefferson: “The tree of Liberty has to be watered from time to time with the blood of Patriots and Traitors.” In other words, liberty can only be secured when Patriots kill Traitors, and in this war, there will be Patriots killed, just like in the Revolutionary War.

We can read in history about evil government, but this only comes after that government is no longer in power. When they are in power, you will never hear from the government how   bad they are. They always look at themselves as good. You will never hear it from those in business who make money from the evil system, nor from the media or educational system who depend on their existence from such a government. Most people who live under such a government will also support it, if for no other reason than they believe what they are told. This only comes out from the few Patriots who live at that time, or from a future government, or one in another country. This is the history of the world. And the only time a good government comes to power is when there are enough Patriots to be willing to defend themselves against such tyranny. That means killing those in power.

It has also been recorded in history that the governments of the world has kill more people than all the criminals in the world. In fact, many individual nations have killed more, such as: the former Soviet Union, East Germany, Romania, and the current government of Communist China. Why were they able to do this? Because there wasn’t enough people to kill those who were doing the killing. If more had done so, Communism would have the blood of nearly 200 million more people would have been alive.

If you were approached by a criminal who was trying to harm you or take your property, would you ask his permission if you can use a weapon? Silly question, right? If you were faced with five criminals, would you ask the same question? That’s even more stupid, as many would say. For now, keep this in mind.

Many years ago, it was illegal for an individual to take real estate from you. To take money from you would also be illegal. Added to this, would be bodily harm. For the government to do so, was not permissible either. In short, what is illegal for an individual to do—in this case, the taking of property and harming you—was illegal for the State to do as well. This we all know.

Take  taxes for example. One hundred years ago, we had no personal income tax. Then in 1913 there was a 1% tax for those who made over $3,000—enough to support a family at the time. Then it gradually increased, until it got to the point where the government took 90% of your income (without taking any deductions). Though later, it was reduced.

One hundred years ago, it was legal to purchase, and in many cases, carry just about any kind of gun you liked and could afford. In the course of this century, certain guns needed a permit; others were outlawed all together. Now, our choice of guns are becoming less and less.

Whether you are a liberal or a conservative, anti-gun or pro-gun, we all admitted this. This is not debatable.

Now, if it was illegal for an individual take money to take your property; your money;  or, your guns, it was also illegal for the government to do so. Now, does the making of a law make this morally different? If you say yes, then you will also have to say yes if they want to take 98% of the money you make; to take your private property, and put you in a government owned home like in Communist countries; or, to take away all guns. In short, where would you say, “Stop, this is not right!”

In fact, in Nov. 1998, it was reported that a person was arrested in California for have a car tool as a possible weapon. He didn’t use it as a weapon, but responded to a policeman who asked him if he would use it if he was attacked. Now, he faces one year in jail. And, he is not the first who has been arrested on such charges. Others are already doing time. This is just to show you how much of our freedom has been taken away.

Is what the majority says, your standard? If that is so, history has shown that the majority changes. For example, to have permit to purchase a machinegun was what the majority agreed to many years ago. Now, to have any kind of fully automatic gun—permit or no permit—according to surveys, the majority is against. Today, if surveys are correct, and for sake of illustration, we’ll assume that it is, the majority of people are against the ownership if  semi-automatic weapons of more than 10 rounds in a clip. Well, if you go by the majority, using as your bases the belief in democracy, do you change your standards according to others? (The Bible says, “Do not follow a multitude to do evil.”)

Maybe your standard is what the politicians say, or, specifically, what the President of the US says. Well, if this is the case, again, history has shown that over they years, presidents have supported tougher gun laws; higher taxes or, at least, different kinds of taxes. So, does your standard follow the presidents’?

Where will it end? Again, we can look towards history and even current events to see. Since man, nor politicians have no  standards, it will lead to the total confiscation of guns, property, and money (giving just enough for people to live on). This is what happens in communist countries; in Marxist socialist countries; and, even in our so-called free country of the United States.

If you say that taxes are fair at 15%; restriction on guns is fair for all auto and semi-automatic weapons; and the confiscation of property is OK if it’s considered a “wet-lands,” others would have just the right to say, a  60% rate for taxes; confiscation of all guns and all property by the State is their standard. In short, how can you justify your standard as being better than theirs, when you have nothing else to go on but your personal feelings of what is fair; right and wrong? Just like they have their personal feelings or standards of what is right and wrong. Your position is just as unsound as the others. What about the person who goes along with what is “politically correct”? And what about those in-between? There would be many conflicting  opinions. And this is exactly what we have. Then what becomes law is a mixture of all the above, or, as in many cases, what people in Congress feels.

If you believe in “the majority rules” or “democracy”. Again, it always changes. In short, by using the word “standard” itself, is a misnomer. Nothing is a standard if it changes.

If your standard for gun control is the outlawing of all automatic weapons, you will be opposed to those who want, for example, the confiscation all guns with the exception of single action .22s. The same can be applied to any other standard that you might have, including social issues. Now, if it’s a social issue, and a person or a group of people—based on religion or race—is opposed to this, they would call it prejudice. This is where the weak hearted Christian backs off. However, has anyone consider that other  standards are offence to Yahweh, God, Almighty? No. Many don’t even know that the God of the Bible, the Creator of the Universe, has standards. So what we are doing, in effect, is offending His Holy Standards—standards which do not change. “I change not, I’m the same, yesterday, today, and forever.”

If we are to  obey God, as  Christians should, then we should have  His Standards and not mans’.

So let’s go back to the original premise of this article—that of defending ourselves.

If we were in the unfortunate circumstances of defending ourselves in the face of a criminal(s), we would do what we can to defend ourselves. This would include taking a gun and killing them if our lives were in danger.

Many people have had their property taken away because of some law (standard), that man has, which is against God’s Law (standard). Police have come and arrested owners who stand up for their rights. Now, just because they have a uniform on, and come on behalf of some politician who told them to go after John Q. Public, this makes it no more a right than if criminals did it. In fact, if policemen did some of the same things they do today, 100 years ago, other police and even citizens would come to the aid of the person who’s property was being taken away.

I’m not saying that you should get your guns out and start shooting. A very few have, regardless of the odds, while others have waited and got those responsible at a later day—when the time and situation was more to their advantage. For those who do take action, I can’t condemn them. After all, they are standing up to God’s standards, and not accepting mans’.

In some cases, regardless of the odds, and regardless that it is the police who come on behalf of the “law”, people have had a shot out with the police. Take, for example, the Federal shooting of Randy Weaver’s son and wife. They presented no threat to the Feds, yet they were shot anyway. They had every right to shot back, and it was too bad that they didn’t kill more of them. We are told by Christ that, “Greater love hath no man, then this, that he dies for a friend.” Notice it said “friend,” not enemy. Christian history if filled with those who died for their beliefs. Some died fighting, others did not.

Christians say they love the freedom (mostly lost) that America has. Well, this came at price—the loss of thousands of lives by those who fought those in “authority”. Remember, the Red Coats were like the police today (probably better), who came on the “authority” of government officials. This didn’t prevent Colonial American from killing them. And they knew the Bible better than 99% of the pastors and priests in churches today. So, the time will come for us to go to battle again. This time our oppression is much greater than what is was 220 years ago.

A final note to think on. For those who say such a thing—fighting the police—is horrible, let me say this. First, war is horrible, I’m not debating this. But at times, it is necessary, for government oppression is much more horrible, e.g., citizens who don’t fight, but over the years they are put in gulag camps, and are killed for some “infraction” by the millions. Communism is an example of that. So, if, for example, more and more people stand up and fight for their rights, like we did in the 18^th century; and when we win and establish freedom, those who criticized us, would soon forget about it when they start enjoying the freedom (which non-fighters don’t deserve) that others have died for. The reason why any nation enjoys freedom, if the have it, is that sometime in their past there were those who fought against those in “authority”. Then, the so-called “rebels” become those in authority.

Just let us pray that our next form of government would be a godly one based on His laws. Amen.

The Benefits of a TV

Many people are now realizing that having a TV is a very bad influence in the home. If you have children it makes it worse as many can not separate fiction from reality. Other reasons why TV is bad is that the news told us by the talking heads are often lies or the truth is twisted, thereby giving  views a false sense of what is going on. Then there are the movies that are filled with violence which is having its effects on society. Finally, there are the many sitcoms that deal with trivial things and are an insult to your intelligence.

So, these are some of the reasons why people have thrown out there TV.

Now, for the benefits of having a TV.

First, I would like to say that I’ve heard many people say that they do not want to have a TV in their home (much for the above reason). But there is a big mistake for throwing out your TV.

If you are an informed person and really want to get to the truth of many issues having a TV is a must for many reasons. One reason there are many good documentaries that are available on DVD, and to view them you should have a TV. Now, some people would say that they can view these DVDs on computer. While this is true, it is better to show it on TV as most people have a TV screen that is larger than their computer screen. It is easier for more people to view the documentary on a large screen than everyone being crammed in front of a computer desk is someone’s small office room of their home.

There are also many good documentaries that are on video. If they are on videos, you can not see it on a computer but have to have a video player hooked up to your TV.

Finally, there is the news breaking events that first appear on TV—not on youtube.com or someone else’s web site. When there is a major event it is usually the very first reports that some truth come out. Some examples are, Oklahoma City bombing, the Waco, Texas attack on a church, and of course, the 9-11 bombing. Many good documentaries on DVD and video have news clips that come from the TV as part of their search for truth. If someone didn’t have a TV and recorded it at the time, we would never know about this. Two specific comes to mind is when new coverage on TV reported policeman saying that bombs were going off. The other one was when firemen who were in the World Trade Center reported the same thing.

Those who have thrown out their TV, they will never have seen the kernel of truth unless they buy one of these documentaries (such as made by Alex Jones) or they wait until it’s on youtube.com. And if people like Alex Jones and youtube.com were not around, many patriots would be kept in the dark, unless they had a TV and recorded some of these truths (which normally come out in the very first reporting of a international event).

What is the solution?

Have a TV but use it sparingly and have your video or DVD recorder hooked up and ready to go when we hear of another bombing in London or some other 9-11 event or even of a plane crash. And being an owner of a TV you can view the many good videos of what people produced on such subjects as 9-11, health, New World Order, etc.

There are times when we need a break and be entertained—just to sit back and relax. That is the time to put in an old Hollywood movie that convened a story. There are many good classics out there, such as Gone with the Wind, North by Northwest, etc. Also there are the musicals, like Oklahoma, Funny Girl, the Fred Astair and Ginger Rodger films and others. Again, you’ll need a TV for viewing. By the way, it might be good to keep them under lock and key with your documentaries, as some day in the near future they will become illegal just like many books are illegal now in many countries.

Books Critical of Self-Help

There are two books that I know of that are critical of the philosophy of self-help. One book is based on the theme that it is the same tactic that is used by Satan—promises of eternal life, wealth, fame, etc.

Basically, they claim that they don’t help, and that it gets you away from God of the Bible. Admittedly, I haven’t read these books, and it would take a lot of stomach to do so. I would read them if given the chance and time. However, I know enough to makes some comments on them.

The fact that there is any book that is critical of self-help is not even worth of attention. It is so stupid to say that self-help books are bad, I don’t even know where to begin, but begin I will.

To criticize a particular book, I can understand, but to use a wide paint brush, is absurd.

How can anyone criticize someone from helping themselves by reading a book of, say, How To Repair Your Own Car; or How to Triple Your Reading Comprehension in One Week; or Over Come Negativity in 5-Easy Steps.

Just about everything we read, of a learning nature, is about helping yourself. That goes from school and university text books (the good ones), to repairs, to articles in some magazines.

Let’s start with How to Repair Your Own Car (a title I made up but might exist out there somewhere). What is wrong with that? I bet the authors have read books on repairing or doing something themselves. If they hadn’t, they are sure idiots. Need I say more? But I will so show the childish attack on people who wants to improve themselves.

What about How to Triple Your Reading Comprehension in One Week. What is wrong with that? Nothing, unless you have a special agenda of putting civilization back to the Stone Age or even the Dark Ages.

Now, if these authors (and those who support them) use a cop-out and say, “Well, we didn’t mean that, but in the area of psychology, health and goal setting (which is what a large percentage of self-help books are about).”

OK, let’s examine each of these, starting with psychology.

What can be so Christian (and if you are not a Christian, any other religion or just that of being a better person), can be wrong with that? Should people go around being negative every day of their lives, or even all day? Does being negative help in family relationships, in being a good son, in being a good mother, or help in your job? Of course not.

Yet, what many self-help books do is to provide you with the tools to get out of negative self-talk, and to think and act positively. Where does it say in the Bible that we should be negative. Bible or no Bible, what kind of society would there be if everyone is negative? You think that society is bad now—it would be a freak show if everyone was negative. And, who would want to follow a religion that is based on this? What kind of God would that be? (I should use the small “g”, as it would some god made up in some negative person’s mind.)

Health

There are many people who have a program where a person can improve their health—in other words, self-help. There are 10s of thousands who have done exactly that. So what is wrong with getting of a disease naturally, safely and quickly? What is sinful or coming from Satan about staying well and not getting sick again (as many are living testimonials of that)?

Whether the health books tell you that you should go on an ovo lacto diet, a vegetable diet, an all raw food diet, or go on fresh fruit and vegetable diet for one month—they are all showing you how to help yourself, or self-help.

As a side note, I’m not just including books here, but also tapes, DVDs, seminars or at a friend’s house. They are self-help, too, but in a different format.

Goal

The lack of goals is one major reason why people fail, because they don’t have a target, and without a defined target, how can you hit it. Are these people who are critical of self-help, don’t want others to have an aim in life? Do they want society to be like a ship at sea without a rudder—drifting aimlessly about?

Finances

A major theme of many self-help books, seminars, tapes, etc. is on how to improve you finances, how to get out of debt, how to build a large estate, how to make money in good times or bad. Americans are more in debt as individuals and as a nation than any other people on Earth. So, if we were to follow the advice of these authors and those who agree with them, we all be cramped in apartments 6 to a room (as we would not be able to afford the mortgage or rent. Would that make them happy?

The Facts Jack

Let’s take a look at the facts Jack. There are millions of people who have given testimony (most verbally to their friends and family) of how they improved, or help themselves, through the advice of others. People have genuinely improved their emotional, financial, and physical well being. You can read a small fraction of their testimonials in various public domains, and you can even see video or hear audio on web pages of those who are in the self-help business.

There are probably even more people who are friends, family and fellow workers of those who improved their lives in one way or another, and can give testimony to that effect.

So, the facts are there, people have gotten help from self-help sources. So, how can anyone be against this, unless they are against improvement in quality and quantity of life? Well, believe it or not, there are people who are against improvement in people’s health, out-look in life, having good families, and being financial successful.

What proof?

Take a look at the medical profession—billions of dollars are made each year (more like trillions). So, money is made from those that are sick and dieing. Psychiatrists make billions of dollars, too. And, we can’t have too many successful people, as that would mean competition for those at the top. Don’t forget, they need working slaves to sweat it out in their factories at below poverty wages. They can’t have goals—as self-help teachers talk about—as that would mean that their workers might actually go out and start their own business.

It’s more like a hidden agenda for those who don’t want to see others succeed.

I guess there are those, including a small sect of “Christians” would like to see everyone be poor, aimless in life, negative, think everyone is out to get them, and sick. That it would be good that we all lived in hovels, wore rages, and work long hard hours, come home exhausted, and get up the next day to repeat the same thing over again, until we die at an early age.

The so-called “Christians” and I do mean to put that in quotes, as they don’t represent anything about Christianity. Throughout the Bible we read self-help information. God tells us to do such-and-such and we should do it—in other words Helping ourselves or Self-Help.

Some who have a gripe against self-help books say, “They don’t work.” Well, I admit that there are some books more effective than others, and there are a few that are worthless. But these people miss the whole point, and that is you have to help yourself! No one is going to do it for you, no things will do it for you, but you alone. You have to get off your butt, away from the voodoo tube and put it into action. 

There are answers out there for most every problem there is. First, you identify the problem, state what you want in detail, then search in some good bookstore, library or on the Internet, and find a good self-help book and make your life better. By doing so, you will make your family life, your community, and your nation a better place to live.
